Are Your Dreams Hiding Behind The Clouds?
Posted on June 21st, 2009 No commentsI sometimes get so caught up and focused on the clouds in my life that I can lose hope for the dreams. Our expectation of rain and storms can crowd out the hope. We cannot allow it to happen.

Be Strong
Posted on April 17th, 2009 3 commentsBe strong when you are not feeling strong!
How can do that? Is it mind over weakness? Is it in a pill? Is it genetic determination?
I thought about that just today. I reflected on the struggles I am having dealing with caregiving issues, life changes, and let’s not forget economic changes. Yet, I just cannot hang around and think or be fearful. I tell myself, “I just don’t have time for a nervous breakdown”. Yet, when the stressors in life grab hold of your neck-you will be choked.
How do you be strong.
Personally, my faith and trust in God and all he provides sustains and bails me out each time. Today I spoke to a speaker buddy I had not spoken to in almost 7 years. We shared as if we had seen each other last week. Yet, we felt comfortable enough with each other to close our sharing with prayer.
Guess what, I felt stronger!
What am I saying?
The only way I know to be strong is to aknowledge my weakness and ask for help. Not sure what that will mean for anyone reading this but for me it means prayer and sharing with others who care enough to listen.

Be Purposeful-What Is Your Purpose?
Posted on April 6th, 2009 No commentsDo you know how to be purposeful?
I am learning that I am at my very best when I am working out of my purpose. But what is your purpose? Is your purpose long term, short term?
The last time I was in the ER with my mom I was able to get someone waiting a long time some lunch, share a resource with someone else, and get a blanket for someone cold. Somehow, although I hated being there, I was purposeful.
I have placed purpose under three categories, Long term, short term and intermediate.
Long term example,
To be a doctor that will help children with disabilities.
Short term example,
To blog about how to sell your pocket change for more than it is worth. This will help those needing more money.
Immediate example,
To bring a dinner to my neighbor who is sick.
Guess what, I really believe that our purpose on this earth is not to just chill out and enjoy ourselves every minute. I think we are to help make things happen for the good of others as well as ourselves.
As a result, it is having a purpose that encourages us to do things like finish school, recover from an illness or just get up every day to go to school, work or even the next room.
What do you think?
Feel free to share your purposes.

T-Take Time To Learn Something New
Posted on March 26th, 2009 No commentsTake time to learn something new. That can be yearly, monthly, daily or moment to moment. I am convinced that it will motivate you.
Well, wit h that in mind, I am learning more about coin collection. Now if you are already under 20 this is one of the coolest things you can do. But right now I am in the real infant stage. I am reading and talking to those who can give me good advice.
No, I am not at the stage where I can grade my own coins but who knows, my best is yet to come!
It is exciting!
So, what are you learning new?

Be Creative-There Is A Book Inside Of You
Posted on March 22nd, 2009 2 commentsThere is a book inside of all of us. We just need to get it out and onto paper.
Now some of you are making excuses, “I’m too young.” ”I’m too old”, “I don’t have a computer.” STOP IT.
If you are practicing those “BE ATTITUDES” you can do it. Just think, if you are in school you can record some of your good times and bad times that can help someone else. If you are out of school reflect back and share what helped you make it. There is a lot of material INSIDE OF YOU!
So, I have made a FREE download available to anyone who wants it. Now, I will be taking it down soon so run on over to Rosiehorner and download it.

Be Creative-My Upward Bound Poem in 1967
Posted on March 20th, 2009 4 commentsI remember when I was a junior in high school. I was in the Upward Bound Program and experiencing the culture shock of being in a new environment outside of my native Newark, New Jersey home. It was something very new. At that time, I did not see the uglyness of racism with the counselors and sisters who were focused on seeing us achieve. It was an amazing time.
Believe it or not I even wanted to be a nun. But not just a regular nun but a cloister nun who spent time praying for others in the world. Of course, I learned that prayer can be done any time and anywhere and still very powerful.
I am not going to say that my view did not change during my four years at the college. I was one of only 8 students from Newark to graduate from there in 1972. I met many people with their own bias, I developed my own bias, and met many who still practiced love. It was a wonderful learning time for us all.
The following poem was published in the President’s Report of the College of Saint Elizabeth where I later attended College for four years after I graduated. I was young and full of idealism. I wonder how relevant is that poem today?
It is so important to take a look at the creative things you have done in the past to encourage you to keep doing them in the future.
THOUGHTS
We all must depart,
my world, your world
from this world. Each to her separate ways
For the world we have shared for so
brief a time,
was a world of love, understanding,
learning, communication, knowledge,
awareness
to each other,
others,
different,
alike. Here we obtained something our worlds
may not have had before
Something we can each take back with us.My world so much different from yours
I have a slum,
you a community
I will go about riot reconstruction,
you progressSo now is the time
before we depart
to look upon our present state
with open eyes.So that we we go to our own worlds
we can give what was given to us.
We can say we had the experience before
of sharing
Why don’t we strive together
When we depart
to make my world,
your world
and this world,
OUR WORLD…Rosemary Calhoun, Copyright, 1967

Stay Focused-Where Do You Want To Be 5 Years From Now?
Posted on March 20th, 2009 No commentsHave you thought about where you want to be five years from now? Many of you will say ALIVE! And I shout out a YES to that! So, if you are blessed to be alive what are your goals? Where do you see yourself?
Whatever those goals are keep focused on them. Even if stuff gets in the way to distract you, get back on track, stay focused. For example, I want to be in a position to provide good food for folks I know that are sick and alone. Now that does not include just seniors.
But in order to work towards that goal I am FOCUSED ON increasing my resources with ONLINE MARKETING. That means that I am not able to do many things outside of taking care of my home, hubby, regular job, my mom and myself.
And believe me, every time I see someone who is alone at home recovering from an illness or a senior without family support I am re-energized to keep working. That does not mean that there are times that I FEEL LIKE GIVING UP. But some prayer and encouragement always kicks in at the right time.
Share where you want to be five years from now. Remember, your best is yet to come.
